Tue, 27 Oct 2026 06:44:03 GMT

When a job involves a load that can't be moved by hand or standard equipment, crane support services Syracuse NY contractors and property owners rely on become the difference between a project that stays on schedule and one that stalls. At Sierson Crane, LLC & Sierson Welding, LLC, we've been providing crane, welding, and flatbed services across Central New York since the 1970s. We're a third-generation, family-owned operation based in Brewerton, NY, and we serve residential, commercial, and industrial customers across the entire state. Find us on Google to confirm our location and hours before you call.

What Crane Support Services Cover in Syracuse

Crane support covers far more than simply picking up a load and putting it down. Our licensed and insured crews provide crane support services Syracuse NY projects demand across a wide range of lift types, including:

Rooftop HVAC and generator placements.
Structural steel and truss installation.
Light pole and steeple tower setting.
Hot tub, swimming pool, and shed placement for residential properties.
Modular and post-and-beam home erection.
Silo work, precast concrete, and log cabin construction.
Tree removal where access is limited or overhead clearance is restricted.

Our fleet includes a 36-ton and a 40-ton National Crane, each with 127 feet of hydraulic boom. With 30-foot jib extensions, both cranes reach an optional 157 feet, which means most lifts in the Syracuse area are well within our equipment's capability.

When Do You Need a Crane Support Team?

Any time a load exceeds what standard equipment can safely handle, or when access to a job site makes ground-level moving impractical, you need a crane. Three specific situations call for professional commercial crane services :

The load is too heavy or awkward for conventional rigging. Structural steel beams, rooftop HVAC units, and precast panels routinely exceed the safe limits of forklifts and boom trucks.

Access is limited. Backyards, rooftops, and tight construction corridors often leave no room to maneuver. A crane with a long boom reach solves the access problem without tearing up your site.

Precision placement is required. Generator pads, transformer setpoints, and steeple towers leave no margin for error. Certified operators with documented safety records are the only appropriate choice for that kind of work.

For residential jobs, our residential crane service uses the same equipment and OSHA-compliant procedures as our industrial lifts.

What to Look for in a Crane Support Contractor

Not every crane company is the same. When evaluating crane support services Syracuse NY contractors, ask these questions before you sign anything:

Are operators certified and insured? We carry full licensing and insurance on every job, and each project begins with a formal risk assessment.

Do they follow OSHA guidelines? We adhere rigorously to OSHA standards and conduct daily equipment inspections to confirm everything is operating correctly before a lift begins.

What is their equipment capacity? Confirming that the crane on site can actually handle your load in tons and reach is not optional. Know the specs before the crew arrives.

How long have they been doing this? Sierson has been operating in Central New York since the 1970s, with over 30 years of crane work logged under general contractors including Whiting Turner, Lupini Construction, Titan Roofing, and Fairborn Industries.

Use standardized hand signals or radios to guide operators.

Make sure everyone involved understands the signals before starting.

Have a designated signal person to manage movements safely.

Poor communication can cause operators to make unsafe moves, so always prioritize clarity.

Train Your Crew Properly

Training is vital for everyone involved in crane lifting.

Ensure operators have proper certification and experience.

Develop an emergency response plan and share it with your team.

Keep first aid kits and safety equipment accessible at all times.

Train personnel on evacuation routes and emergency contacts.
